The Alpe-Adria-Trail connects the three regions of Carinthia, Slovenia and Friuli Venezia Giulia on a total of 43 stages. It first leads from the foot of the Großglockner through the most beautiful Carinthian mountain and lake areas. Then without major detours to the vicinity of the crossroads of the three countries Austria, Italy, Slovenia and on to the Adriatic Sea in Muggia.

Pleasure hiking is in the foreground on the trail. The Alpe-Adria-Trail runs mainly in the non-alpine area and as far as possible with little difference in altitude. The stages are about 20 kilometers long and require a walking time of about 6 hours and are uniformly signposted. Each stage leads along a defined route that can be walked in either direction. It offers at least one attractive culinary destination and ends at a place with appropriate overnight accommodation.

The Alpe-Adria-Trail runs along existing trails, connects them and has a corresponding hiking trail quality. On each stage there are several landmarks, which have a significant influence on the hiking rhythm. On every stage there will be at least one "magic place" in the future, a special place, a place of harmony of the four elements. These places are already present, they are "jewels of the landscape", of great intensity for the viewer. Through gentle interventions, they invite you to linger. They allow not only to see the landscape, but also to feel it.

Stopover on the Alpe-Adria-Trail

Lake Wörthersee is an important stop here. For those long-distance hikers who complete the trail in sections at different times, it is either a temporary end point or also a starting point. For all others, it is a place to draw new physical and spiritual strength, to take a deep breath and to set off with new inspiration and energy in the direction of the Julian Alps.

At the same time, many hikers enjoy the wide range of culinary delights on offer in Velden. Or they treat their tired legs to a well-deserved break at the Velden lido.

Lake Wörthersee round hikes - the ideal preparation

Do you want to prepare yourself consistently and purposefully for the Alpe Adria Trail? Then you should consider participating in the annual Wörthersee Circular Hikes! The 55 km long hikes around Lake Wörthersee with 1400 meters of altitude are an ideal "dress rehearsal" and form check.
