The Kathreinkogel loop invites you to experience nature and relax. From the start on solid ground along the Keutschacher Straße, the trail leads through the Schieflinger forest in the direction of St. Kathrein. As a stopover we recommend the 772 m high Kathreinkogel, where prehistoric and Roman excavations have been discovered. The way back is mainly on natural ground, around the Schieflinger forest, back to the municipal office. The museum is open from June to September.

Directions
From the village in the direction of Velden. Along the No. 38 through the Schieflinger forest to the Krainz farm below the Kathreinkogel. Ascent to the Kogel - along the historical nature trail to the Kathreinkogel (772 m).
Special features: House of Archaeology - showroom contains exhibits from the excavations on the Kathreinkogel, as well as from other excavation sites in Carinthia. A museum - built over a cistern with a capacity of 80,000 l - brings to light many informative details of the past. The uncovered settlement is currently considered the oldest excavated settlement in the entire Eastern Alps. The museum is open from June to September.
On the rock cone, stands the daughter church dedicated to St. Catherine. The single-nave building from the Romanesque period with a late Gothic choir and ribbed vault was first mentioned in a document in 1385. From here you have a wonderful view of Lake Wörthersee and the Rosental valley.
Then back again to the farm Krainz - Maierhofer
Continue along No. 5 B (refreshment stop in the Ramplercenter) past the quarry - through a meadow and forest landscape - to the village of Aich - from here along No. 6 A - through the Schieflinger forest - to the junction 6a 38 - along No. 38 - to the starting point .
