Directions

After the start in Velden, there is only a little time to roll in before the crisp ride via Techelsberg along the Ossiacher Tauern to Köstenberg. Via Damtschach and Wernberg there is plenty of time to catch your breath before you join the 1987 World Cycling Championship route at St. Niklas. Via Großsattel and Kleinsattel and the legendary Fuchsbichl, you finally reach Drobollach am Faaker See.

A quick glance across the Faaker See towards Mittagskogel reveals the next stage destination. Past Carinthia's largest climbing area, the Kanzianiberg near Finkenstein and the Burgarena Finkenstein, you are now ready to climb. At an altitude of 919m, you now reach one of the most beautiful views in Carinthia on the Baumgartnerhöhe. Enjoy the magnificent view over Lake Faak during a stop at the Baumgartnerhof. A rapid descent then takes you back to Lake Faak. Please take extra care here, as there is always oncoming traffic and the road has numerous potholes.

Back at Lake Faak, the route goes in the opposite direction via one of the notorious parts of the Ironman Austria course, the Ribnig. In this case, however, downhill. The route then continues to the St. Martin junction before Rosegg, where you have to take a 90° turn in the downhill section towards Orainsattel. Reduce your speed in good time!

The Orainsattel is a short, crisp climb on a little-used road through a cool forest. Once you arrive in Ledenitzen, you are back on the gently descending gliding section of the Ironman course to St. Jakob im Rosental. You can take it easy as far as St. Johann im Rosental. This is followed by a short detour with gradients of 15% over the Rabenberg to Weizelsdorf. At Kirschentheuer you then cross the Drau, which has accompanied you for a long time. Hollenburg and Plöschenberg are your next "opponents" to conquer. After 113km, you make another wonderful additional loop up to Zedras. Here you will again have to conquer gradients of around 15%. This is followed by another classic Ironman course (again in the opposite direction), the Rupertiberg.

Over a few "waves", the route takes you via St. Egyden and Penken, through beautiful countryside via Schiefling back down to Lake Wörthersee. Now you have a few more relaxing kilometers with a view of Lake Wörthersee to let the round have an effect on you before the well-deserved finish.
